Cell Phone Restriction While Driving on Post

July 1, 2006
Fort Gordon Cell Phone Policy

No use of cell phone, blackberry or similar electronic devices are allowed while driving a vehicle on Fort Gordon. Additionally, all military personnel must follow this cell phone policy while driving off post.

Totally hands-free devices with an earpiece, microphone and speakers are allowed while driving. Drivers must have both hands on the steering wheel at all times. Cell phone devices must be more than 24 inches from the ears. Other ear pieces or headphones not for cellular use are prohibited. Hand-held phones may be used while driving in an emergency only, or if the vehicle is safely parked.

This policy does not prohibit careful use of CB radios or walkie-talkies.

Violators of this policy will be prosecuted.
