What We Do

We provide Initial Military Trainees (IMT) and prior-service Soldiers Medical Laboratory Technician phase II training on hands-on and practices in Laboratory Areas.

Organizational Components

The 68K course consists of a 26-week phase (Phase I) taught at the Medical Education Training Campus (METC), Fort Sam Houston, Texas and a 26-week clinical practicum conducted at selected military medical treatment facilities (Phase II). The Phase II program is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice by providing supervised training in the following areas: clinical chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, immunology, immunohematology, medical microbiology, laboratory mathematics, and basic laboratory statistics.

Incoming Students

Fort Gordon is located in Augusta, GA. It is approximately 10 miles from the South Carolina border. If you are traveling by car, Fort Gordon is very accessible by interstate 20. From I-20 east or west, directions are clearly marked to the Fort. If you are traveling by commercial airline to Augusta, transportation is available to Fort Gordon via taxi service or rental car agencies.

Upon your arrival at Fort Gordon, during normal duty hours (Monday - Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.), report to building 319, Student Company (adjacent to the hospital, Comm: 706-787-2514, DSN: 773-2514). After duty hours, report to the main hospital, building 300 on East Hospital Road. Go to the information desk at the 2nd floor entrance of the hospital. The receptionist or Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) will page the Staff Duty Noncommissioned Officer (SDNCO) to assist you. During normal duty hours, you must report in ACUs. After normal duty hours, you can report in civilian clothes. The next duty day you are to report to the laboratory, room 1J-17 (next to public elevators) at 7:30 a.m. The laboratory is located on the 1st floor.

Incoming personnel should have the following items in their possession for in-processing: Copies of PCS orders, Student Workbook, DA Form 705 (Army Physical Fitness Test Scorecard), 201 File, DA Form 31 (Request and Authority for Leave), and Finance Envelope.
